Decorative Plant Stands

When one thinks of decorative plant stands, they usually picture them with plants on top, but these neat pieces of furniture can be used for much more because plant stands are a unique and versatile piece of furniture, and you don‘t have to have a plant to use one! In fact, if you've run out of room on your mantle or shelving, you may want to display additional items on a solidly made pedestal plant stand.

Here are some of our favorite plant stands:

Whether you use living or artificial plants, they’ll look great on top of decorative plant stands. The advantage with a silk or artificial plant is that you can have the beauty of greenery in your home without having to worry about watering them. in fact, an artificial plant should have a great stand to add to its character.

If your floor is solid and level, most plant stands will have no difficulty standing upright. If you are displaying something large and heavy, be sure to choose a stand that will support the weight well and be appropriate for your flooring type. A pedestal of lighter weight may not work great for a carpeted floor. But if you have a hardwood floor, this type of base will work just great.

Plant stands can offer a great way to start decorating your home, using your own creative style. When you do, you'll take another step towards giving your home its own distinctive personality.

Choosing A Plant Stand:

When selecting a stand, there are some things to think about, even if you'll be placing something other than greenery atop your plant stand.

The stand should not detract nor compete with the beauty of the plant but should, in fact, enhance it.

There are so many options on the market in plant stands that it's now easier than ever to display your greenery in such a way that both the plants and the pedestals make a striking impression on your house guests.

You also need to think about the type of plant you will put on the stand. Stand size should be considered in comparison to the plant. You wouldn’t want a thin delicate plant to be completely overwhelmed by the large and bulky iron pedestal it's standing on. A heavy plant stand though, would perfectly complement a flowing plant like a fern or ivy.

Color is also important for decorative plant stands. When displaying a beautiful flowering plant, keep the colors of the blooms in mind. Complementary colors should be considered when buying a plant stand.

With plant stands, size matters. The top of the stand must be large enough to fit your plant's container. The container should be at least a little smaller than the top of the stand. This will make the presentation look better and make the stand more stable.
